Richard E. Carlson

Richard Carlson is President of RCS Asset Management in Rancho Santa Fe, California, a private investment company, which he founded in 1996. From 1974 to 1996, Mr. Carlson was a Vice President at Rockefeller & Co., in charge of high-risk investments. He was the Managing General Partner of several limited partnerships for both marketable and venture investments. He has served as a Director of several companies. Mr. Carlson received a BS from the University of Washington, and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Richard Defieux

Rick is a venture partner at Battelle Ventures in Princeton, NJ, concentrating on energy and environmental investments. He has been a venture capitalist for over two decades, serving as general partner in five venture capital funds. He has led investments in more than two dozen environmental, energy, and communications companies. Prior to joining Battelle Ventures, Rick was a General Partner of Allegra Partners IV, a New York based private equity fund focused on communication and information technology, and previously was with Edison Venture Funds I, II and III where he led the firm’s environmental and energy investment activities. He is Co-founder and Chairman of the Sustainable Jobs Corporation and serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee of SJF Ventures, which focuses on cleantech, technology-enhanced services and premium consumer products sectors.

Robert W. Shaw, Jr., Ph.D

As President of Arete Corporation, and manager of the Micro-Generation Technology Fund and the five Utech Funds, Bob Shaw is recognized as one of the most experienced energy technology venture investors, with an outstanding investment record over the past 23 years. Prior to forming Arete, Dr. Shaw was Senior Vice President of Booz, Allen & Hamilton’s Energy division and a member of the Firm’s Board of Directors. Dr. Shaw serves as Chairman of Distributed Energy Systems Corporation (DESC) and CTP Hydrogen Corp, as well as a Director of H2Gen Innovations.
